Mini Office

Yesterday morning, Jasmine and I made mini offices for her and her brother. A mini office is a variation on a lapbook that can be used as reference tool for students. I am planning to use ours as a visual for the kids use during our morning review time.

On the front cover of each mini office, I printed the child's name, birth date, address, telephone number and emergency numbers. Inside, I included printouts of our memory work for the year, which includes books of the Bible, The Ten Commandments and a scripture for each letter of the alphabet.

Jasmine's mini office also contains print outs of a hundreds chart, colors, shapes, coins, a clock, ordinal numbers, days of the week, months of the year, seasons and the alphabet.

Andrew's contains a hundreds chart, a number line, a clock, coins, Roman numerals, a place value chart, ordinal numbers, math symbols, units of measurement, months of the year, days of the week, seasons, continents, a handwriting strip, parts of speech and a writing checklist.

Jimmie's Squidoo page on Mini Offices will tell you everything you need to know to make a mini office of your own. Here's the website where I found most of the printables for our mini office.

That's a pretty good idea. Maybe I will try that with my kids, if only I can get them to do their other school work. We had a new baby a few months ago and they are still very distracted with wanting to hold her.

Curt,

I'm siding with the kids on this one. New babies are much more important than school work and mini offices!

I wandered over here through the SL blogroll. I love your blog! These are such a great idea. We have done lapbooks before, but I've never seen this. I love it, we'll have to try it out. Thanks for sharing it!

I really like the mini office idea. I'm going to have to use it.
