Weekly Activities

Our Weekly Activities:

Monday - We spend the day visiting our cousins who live in the country. Jasmine takes a 45 minute ballet class at a neighbor's house, then the children spend the rest of the day going on "expeditions" in the woods, swinging from rope swings, catching lizards and getting filthy. We like to call it science and PE.

Tuesday - Free Day!

Wednesday - This is my work day. We visit my grandma in the nursing home, then I drop the children off for an afternoon at my mother's house while I go to the library and work on my website.

Thursday - We take Andrew to basketball practice.

Friday - Andrew and Jasmine have swim lessons.

Saturday - We attend Andrew's basketball game.

Sunday - We attend church and sometimes have praise dance practice.

Together with the occasional field trip or trip to the library, this is more than enough to keep us properly socialized.

As a new homeschooler, socialization was my main concern. However, it is extremely rare for me to hear my children complain about boredom or wanting more time with friends. In fact, I can't recall it happening this year.

My children are outgoing and get along well with people of all ages. And even more, they are content. One thing I see lacking in many children is an overall sense of contentment. In many instances, too much outside activity breeds boredom and creates an insatiable desire for more.

You're right. Too much outside activity isn't good, for all the reasons you mentioned. I love the idea of the kids just spending some time in the woods seeing nature. Good post!

Your kids DO love nature if they love playing in the woods & catching lizards! CM would indeed be proud :O)
